Toine Rommers

Toine Rommers

Team Lead

Hello everyone, I’m Toine, this year’s team captain. I’ve been meaning to partake in the iGEM competition for a while, and after a bachelor’s in biomedical engineering I finally felt like it was the time. I’m really excited to work together with my amazing team to make our best ideas come to life and I cannot wait to share them with all of you in Paris, see you there! 🔬💚

Lab Captain

I’m the Lab Captain of our iGEM team. I’m a chemistry student, and my interest in iGEM started already in my first year, so I’m very excited to finally be part of the team. My role is to coordinate the lab side of the project, from planning experiments and developing protocols to making sure our cells stay alive and everything is done safely. I enjoy being involved in the technical development of the project and helping turn our ideas into real experiments.

Lab & Modelling

Hi, I'm Gonzalo! I'm from Spain and I will be a part of the lab and modeling team. I love running and I had recently completed half a marathon! I love excel sheets but sometimes my OCD takes over and I have to fix every little difference my teammate made, jk... Anyways, I will be the main modeling person on our team (definitely not the only...)!

Human Practices

Hi, I am the Human Practices Captain. My story started when our dear Public Relations lady contacted me through Instagram. At first, I thought it was a scam, but after a lovely interview and an interesting introductory presentation, I started my iGEM journey. Since then, I have conducted stakeholder interviews, organized outreach activities, and ensured ethical and societal perspectives were integrated into our project.

Finance & Partners

With a background in medical sciences and chemical biology, I felt like joining the TU/e iGEM team was a logical next step to take what I learned during my bachelor's into practice. This year, I joined the team as the Finance Captain and Partner Coordinator — excited to connect with the business world while growing in and outside the lab! 💚🧬💰

Nataly Zheng Wang

Nataly Zheng Wang

Wiki & Website developer

Hi, I'm Nataly! As a first-year Electrical Engineering student, I never expected myself to be part of a synthetic biology team. Everything about the field was new to me, but I was excited to step outside my comfort zone and work alongside passionate people. As a web developer and graphic designer, I enjoy bringing our project to life through vibrant visuals and a website that reflects our team's hard work and dedication :)

Public Relations

Hi, I'm Polina! As a first-year Electrical Engineering student, I have very little knowledge about synthetic biology and yet, here I am. I joined iGEM because I wanted to broaden my perspective beyond my own field and be part of something with real impact. As PR Captain, my role is to bridge the team and the outside world, and I couldn't be more motivated to do it well. You can reach to me via linkedin/instagram for iGEM or anything else!

Hii I’m Deana! This is my third year doing iGEM, but this time I’m the web developer! I study electrical engineering, which is quite far from synthetic biology, but I love doing things for the love of the game :) Feel free to add and text me on LinkedIn for anything iGEM related or not!

Lab

Ciaociaooo, I'm Arianna! I come from a background in Mechanical Engineering. I joined iGEM because I want to bridge the gap between my technical training and the fascinating world of biology. When I'm in the lab mastering new protocols, you can almost certainly find me planning my next trip, as I have a deep passion for travelling and exploring new places!
