Meet the team

The iGEM TU Eindhoven student team is a multidisciplinary team of students from various backgrounds, including biology, engineering, computer science, and design. We are passionate about synthetic biology and dedicated to making a positive impact on the world through our projects.

Team Lead

I have been interested in iGEM for quite some time during my bachelor's. However, I never got the chance to properly combine it with my courses. Now that I'm more flexible in my masters, I have used the opportunity to finally work in this groundbreaking community! 🔬💚

Lab

I've wanted to join iGEM since my bachelor, but only now as a master's student do I have the time. During the upcoming months, I'm excited to grow beyond my degree, both personally and professionally. Together with Joep, I'll be preparing, executing, and guiding all lab activities in the coming months.

Lab

As a Lab Captain in team iGEM I'm currently leading the team in the lab together with Imke, where we try to prove our concept through experimentation. With this task, I learn a lot of new things about lab practices, planning, and also presenting, since pitching our ideas is an important part of the competition.

Human Practices

I've always wanted to get involved in projects that connect science to the real world. iGEM was the perfect way to take on a challenge outside of regular lectures and explore what it means to work on a project that could truly impact people's lives. As human practices captain I'm curious, ambitious, and not afraid to dive into the unknown, especially when it means learning new things and working with inspiring people from all kinds of backgrounds.

Finance & Partners

Although I switched my focus from imaging to synthetic biology at the end of my bachelor's, I've always been drawn to iGEM. This year, I finally joined the team as Finance Captain and Partner Coordinator—excited to connect with the business world while learning a lot of new skills both in and outside the lab! 💡🧬💰

Education

After spending my bachelor's end project in the lab, I hadn't quite gotten enough of lab work just yet. Combining that with the freedom of a project of our own and working with a team of my peers made iGEM very appealing to me. As Education Captain it's my role to share our passion in synthetic biology with the world and I am beyond excited to work on that during our project.

Public Relations

During my Bachelor's, I worked in the Protein Engineering group, which sparked my interest in iGEM. As I'm now approaching the end of my Master's, iGEM is the perfect opportunity to gain lab experience, develop my soft skills, and meet inspiring people. As PR Captain and Secretary, I'm especially excited to organize the Mini Jamboree.
